Formidable Face pose or Gandha Bherundasana as it’s called in Sanskrit, is a challenging posture and helps to stretch and strengthen the core, thighs, arms, and neck. It can help to reduce headaches, calm the mind, and improve circulation. Blocks in this modified version of the pose help to reduce the risk of injury or strain in the neck by helping to support the body weight.
Begin in Tabletop, with a block directly in front of the fingertips of both hands.
Reach your left leg back, then engage your core and shift your shoulders forward past your wrists.
Shift forward, moving your chin toward the mat, and place your shoulders on the blocks.
Lift your left leg toward the ceiling, then press off with control to raise your right leg to meet your left. Point the feet.
Keep the core and inner thighs active. Hold this pose for 3-5 breaths, then slowly release back to Tabletop.
